La Plagne

With about a dozen interconnected villages, La Plagne is a vast domain in the French Alps, joined to Les Arcs to form Paradiski. Many visitors are families or groups staying in residences right on the slopes. There is no direct rail connection, so our Geneva airport ski transfer is the practical choice: it takes you to the precise village and building on your booking.

Chauffeur's tipAlways name your exact village (Plagne Centre, Belle Plagne, Aime 2000, Montchavin, Champagny…) rather than just "La Plagne".

Route and travel time

The private transfer from Geneva Airport to La Plagne covers about 190 km and takes 2 h 15 to 2 h 30 depending on the village. Your chauffeur reaches Annecy on the A41, Albertville on the A430, then follows the N90 through the Tarentaise to Aime. From there the D221 climbs in hairpins to Plagne Centre, Belle Plagne and Aime 2000; the villages of Montchavin and Les Coches are reached via Bellentre, and Champagny-en-Vanoise via Moûtiers and Bozel.

On high-season Saturdays the Moûtiers exit and the drive through Aime can add up to an hour: we build that traffic into the pick-up time.

Eleven villages, three access roads

La Plagne is a group of eleven villages spread over two mountainsides. The high-altitude resorts, around 2,000 m: Plagne Centre, Plagne Bellecôte, Belle Plagne, Aime 2000, Plagne Villages, Plagne Soleil and Plagne 1800, all reached by the Aime road. The lower, more traditional valley villages: Montchavin and Les Coches on the Bellentre side, Champagny-en-Vanoise on the Bozel side and Montalbert above Aime.

Driving from one village to another can take forty minutes. Give the village and the residence name when booking: we prepare the right route and your chauffeur does not have to search on arrival.

What the fixed price includes

The price shown before payment is for the whole vehicle, with no supplement for passengers, luggage or traffic.

  • Meet and greet in arrivals with a name board, Swiss or French sector depending on your flight.
  • Flight tracking and 60 minutes of free waiting time.
  • Skis, snowboards, boot bags and suitcases loaded by the chauffeur.
  • A direct journey to your door, with no other passengers.
  • Tolls, fuel and VAT included; child seats on request at no extra charge.

Which vehicle for La Plagne

La Plagne is a family resort: the Mercedes V-Class (7 passengers, 10 bags) is the most requested, with skis flat in the boot and room for a pushchair. For two or three, the E-Class or S-Class. For a shared chalet or a group of 8 to 19, the Sprinter is offered on quotation.

The road to La Plagne in winter

From Aime to Plagne Centre the D221 gains 1,300 metres in 18 km of regular hairpins, then link roads connect the high villages to each other. The road is well cleared but ices early in the evening on shaded slopes. Our Mercedes run on winter tyres with chains on board, as the Mountain Law requires in Savoie, and our chauffeurs know the residence accesses in Belle Plagne and Plagne Soleil, some of them one-way.

Paradiski and the bobsleigh run

La Plagne forms the Paradiski area with Les Arcs and Peisey-Vallandry, about 425 km of pistes linked by the Vanoise Express cable car from Montchavin-Les Coches. La Plagne's own area has about 225 km, from the Bellecôte glacier (3,250 m) to the forests of Montchavin and Champagny. The resort hosted the bobsleigh and luge events of the 1992 Olympics: the La Roche Olympic track above Plagne 1800 is still open to the public in winter. The season generally runs from mid-December to late April.

Child seats, pushchairs and equipment

Enter your children's ages when booking: an infant carrier, child seat or booster is fitted in advance. The V-Class takes a folded pushchair and a sledge in addition to skis. If you are hiring equipment in La Plagne, tell us; a smaller vehicle may be enough.

Your transfer step by step

  1. Online booking with flight number, village and residence; fixed price shown before payment.
  2. The day before, you receive the chauffeur's name and phone number.
  3. On landing the time is adjusted; the chauffeur waits in arrivals.
  4. Loading, immediate departure.
  5. About 2 h 15 to 2 h 30 later, drop-off at your residence in La Plagne.

No change at Aime

Aime-La Plagne station is served by TGV and Eurostar ski trains at weekends, but 18 km of mountain road remain by local bus, skis on the platform, and the villages of Montchavin, Les Coches or Champagny need a second change. A private transfer leaves at your flight's actual arrival time, makes no intermediate stops and delivers every bag to the door, for a fixed price known in advance.

Return to Geneva and days in Les Arcs

Book the outbound and return together: the return gets 10% off. On a Saturday in February we advise leaving the resort early to pass Aime and Moûtiers before the peak. As a chauffeur at your disposal, your driver takes you to Les Arcs, Bourg-Saint-Maurice, Champagny-le-Haut for the ice falls, or Moûtiers.

Practical tips before you leave

Allow 20 minutes to get skis out of the ski room, more in Belle Plagne where residences are reached on foot from the car park. Keep ski boots in a separate bag. For a morning flight a night departure is possible: the Tarentaise is clear and the journey often takes under two and a quarter hours.
