Saas-Fee

By public transport, Saas-Fee means a train to Visp and then a postbus up the valley, with every bag moved at each stage. A Geneva airport private transfer turns that into a single drive. The glacier village of the Saastal, surrounded by peaks above 4,000 m and known for its long ski season, is closed to cars, so you are dropped at the parking and bus station by its entrance.

Route and travel time

The private transfer from Geneva Airport to Saas-Fee covers about 240 km and takes around 3 h 10. Your chauffeur follows the A1 then the A9 motorway along Lake Geneva and up the Rhône valley to Visp in the Upper Valais. From there the Saas valley road climbs through Stalden and Saas-Grund to Saas-Fee, at 1,800 m, in a bowl enclosed by thirteen peaks over 4,000 metres.

The whole journey is in Switzerland, with no pass and no border: motorway covers the first two thirds, and only the last half hour is mountain road.

Saas-Fee, a car-free village: how drop-off works

Saas-Fee is closed to cars. Vehicles stop at the large covered car park at the village entrance (Parkhaus), where your chauffeur drops you with your luggage. From there, hotels send their electric shuttles and electric taxis run to chalets and residences; we can tell your hotel your arrival time so the shuttle is waiting. Allow an extra ten to fifteen minutes.

For Saas-Grund, Saas-Almagell and Saas-Balen, neighbouring villages open to cars, drop-off is directly at your door.

What the fixed price includes

The price shown before payment is for the whole vehicle, with no supplement for passengers, luggage or traffic.

  • Meet and greet in arrivals with a name board.
  • Flight tracking and 60 minutes of free waiting time.
  • Skis, snowboards, boot bags and suitcases loaded by the chauffeur.
  • A direct journey, with no other passengers, to the Saas-Fee entrance car park or to your door in the neighbouring villages.
  • Motorway vignette, fuel and VAT included; child seats on request at no extra charge.

Which vehicle for Saas-Fee

For three hours on the road, comfort matters: the Mercedes S-Class for two or three passengers, the V-Class (7 passengers, 10 bags) for a family or group of friends with skis. For a club or a group of 8 to 19, the Sprinter is offered on quotation.

The Saas valley road in winter

From Visp to Saas-Fee the road gains 1,150 metres in 25 km: a steady climb with a few avalanche galleries, well maintained because it is the valley's only access. Our Mercedes run on winter tyres with chains on board and our chauffeurs know the Stalden road, whose first hairpins above Visp are the most exposed to ice.

The glacier, the Mittelallalin and the long season

Saas-Fee offers about 150 km of pistes between 1,800 and 3,600 m, with the Mittelallalin reached by the Metro Alpin, the world's highest underground funicular, and its revolving restaurant. Skiing on the Allalin glacier is possible for much of the year: the main season runs from late November to late April, and national teams train in Saas-Fee from summer and autumn. The village has kept its Valais barns on stilts and its pedestrian centre. Saas-Fee is also at the heart of the Saas valley hiking network, with Lake Mattmark at its far end.

Child seats, pushchairs and equipment

Enter your children's ages when booking: an infant carrier, child seat or booster is fitted in advance, and the chauffeur plans a halfway stop if you travel with a baby. The V-Class takes a folded pushchair and a sledge alongside the skis. If you are hiring equipment locally, tell us; a smaller vehicle may be enough.

Your transfer step by step

  1. Online booking with flight number and hotel or chalet name; fixed price shown before payment.
  2. The day before, you receive the chauffeur's name and phone number; we inform your hotel if you wish.
  3. On landing the time is adjusted; the chauffeur waits in arrivals.
  4. Loading, immediate departure on the A1 and A9.
  5. About 3 h 10 later, drop-off at the Saas-Fee entrance car park, with help carrying luggage to the electric shuttle.

No change at Visp

Saas-Fee has no railway station: by public transport you change at Visp for a PostBus that climbs the valley in an hour, skis in hand, then another shuttle in the village. A private transfer leaves at your flight's actual arrival time, makes no stops and drops you at the entrance to Saas-Fee in 3 h 10, for a fixed price known in advance.

Return to Geneva and days in the Valais

Book the outbound and return together: the return gets 10% off. As a chauffeur at your disposal, your driver takes you to Zermatt via Täsch (an hour), to Lake Mattmark, to Brig and the Simplon Pass, or to the thermal baths at Leukerbad on the way back.

Practical tips before you leave

Book your hotel's electric shuttle to the car park the day before, and allow 20 minutes' margin for loading. Keep ski boots in a separate bag. For a morning flight from Geneva we recommend leaving before 6 am: the Rhône valley is clear and the journey often takes under three hours.
