Route and travel time
The private transfer from Geneva Airport to Le Grand-Bornand covers about 66 km and takes around 1 h 10. Your chauffeur takes the A41 motorway towards Annecy, then the D909 through Thônes and Saint-Jean-de-Sixt to the village of Le Grand-Bornand, at 1,000 m. For Le Chinaillon, the high-altitude resort, the road continues for six kilometres of hairpins up to 1,300 m, at the foot of the slopes.
An alternative via La Roche-sur-Foron and the Col de la Colombière is only possible in summer: in winter the pass is closed and the route always goes through Thônes.
The village and Le Chinaillon: two different addresses
- Le Grand-Bornand village (1,000 m): the historic town, with the church, the Wednesday market, the biathlon stadium and the central hotels; the slopes are reached by the Rosay gondola.
- Le Chinaillon (1,300 m): the high-altitude resort at the foot of the ski area, with ski-in ski-out residences and chalets, ten minutes' drive above the village.
- The hamlets: Le Bouchet, Les Plans, Le Villavit and the farms of the surrounding valleys, popular for rental chalets.
Give the hamlet and chalet name when booking: between the village and Le Chinaillon there are ten minutes of road and several hundred metres of climb.
What the fixed price includes
The price shown before payment is for the whole vehicle, with no supplement for passengers, luggage or traffic.
- Meet and greet in arrivals with a name board, Swiss or French sector depending on your flight.
- Flight tracking and 60 minutes of free waiting time.
- Skis, snowboards, boot bags and suitcases loaded by the chauffeur.
- A direct journey to your door, with no other passengers.
- Tolls, fuel and VAT included; child seats on request at no extra charge.
Which vehicle for Le Grand-Bornand
For two or three, the Mercedes E-Class or S-Class. With a family or from four passengers, the V-Class (7 passengers, 10 bags). For a shared chalet, a club or a group of 8 to 19, the Sprinter is offered on quotation.
The Le Grand-Bornand road in winter
As far as the village, the valley road is easy and well cleared. The climb to Le Chinaillon is more exposed: hairpins, shaded sections and evening ice. Our Mercedes run on winter tyres with chains on board, as the Mountain Law requires in Haute-Savoie, and our chauffeurs know the chalet roads around Le Chinaillon and the hamlets.
The ski area and biathlon
Le Grand-Bornand offers about 90 km of pistes between 1,000 and 2,100 m, from Le Chinaillon to Le Maroly and La Floria, and shares the Aravis pass with La Clusaz, twelve kilometres away. The village is France's biathlon capital: the Sylvie Becaert stadium hosts the World Cup in December in some years, and the site stays open for cross-country skiing and shooting initiation all winter. The ski season generally runs from mid-December to mid-April; in summer the village hosts the Au Bonheur des Mômes children's festival and is a base for the Colombière and Aravis passes.
Child seats, pushchairs and equipment
Enter your children's ages when booking: an infant carrier, child seat or booster is fitted in advance. The V-Class takes a folded pushchair and a sledge alongside the skis. If you are hiring equipment locally, tell us; a smaller vehicle may be enough.
Your transfer step by step
- Online booking with flight number, hamlet and chalet name; fixed price shown before payment.
- The day before, you receive the chauffeur's name and phone number.
- On landing the time is adjusted; the chauffeur waits in arrivals.
- Loading, immediate departure on the A41.
- About 1 h 10 later, drop-off at your chalet in the village or at Le Chinaillon.
No change at Annecy
Le Grand-Bornand has no railway station: from Annecy, 35 km remain by local bus, skis in hand, with a second bus up to Le Chinaillon. A private transfer leaves at your flight's actual arrival time, makes no stops and drops you at your door in 1 h 10, for a fixed price known in advance.
Return to Geneva and days in the Aravis
Book the outbound and return together: the return gets 10% off. As a chauffeur at your disposal, your driver takes you to La Clusaz, to Annecy for the lake and old town, or to Thônes for the cheese dairies and the Saturday market.
Practical tips before you leave
Allow 15 minutes to load skis and keep boots in a separate bag. For an early-morning flight a 5 am departure is possible: the road is empty and the journey takes barely more than an hour.
